Lions Tour to South Africa - Important Information
26/05/2009
Outside of the Rugby World Cup, a Lions tour has to be one of the most exciting events on the fantasy rugby calendar. The 2005 tour of New Zealand was intense, although the Lions got burned most are expecting a more competitive series in 2009. We've been preparing the game for some weeks now and finally we've put it LIVE! Here's How It Works 10 Rounds Each game is a new round, this means that you need to change out your squads for mid-week games as well. 46 Trades and More You will have 46 trades to begin with, another 58 will be allocated after the lock in round 5. With the mid-week dirt trackers changing out with the weekend "Top Team" you'll need every trade you can get your hands on, not to mention a steady flow of South African, provincial and international players to swap out each round. Players to Choose From British & Irish Lions To get this game up and running we have selected players from the home nations in their accustomed positions, in many cases the coaches (McGeechan and co.) will play them in another position... WE CANNOT MOVE A PLAYER into another position once the series starts, doing so will make teams invalid if they already own that player. Opposition Teams Traditionally we endeavor to select all players in a series when the series kicks off, however due to the nature of a tour it becomes very difficult to do so. We will wait as long as possible before naming the Lions opposition. Players will be added to the game as soon as possible, although many of the players already exist in the TESTRUGBY.COM database we find that some coaches (the real ones... not you guys) may select players out of position. With only 2 teams playing per round we have to get this pretty right otherwise we may be short in some positions. Spring Boks In some instances we may have to change a players position IF THEY HAVE BEEN SELECTED FOR MULTIPLE TEAMS but in different positions. A case in point, what if Francois Steyn played for the Sharks at Flyhalf, then was selected to play for the Spring Boks at Inside Center? He would gain points for the Sharks game then he would effectively be changed into his new team, ready to start again on zero points scored for the Spring Boks. Hopefully this would not happen as it can mess with our calculation engine if we don't get it right? Have Fun! Just enjoy yourselves, get your family and friends to play, this is going to be a fabulous tour and an experience to remember... even for those of us who cant actually be there.
