The Brumbies have been given the perfect opportunity to lay last season’s ghosts to rest following the publication of the 2013 fixture list.
The men from Australia’s Capital Territory finished a point outside of the play-offs and ranked second in the Australian Conference, meaning they missed out on a place in the end of season play-off series.
While the showing represents an improvement on their effort in 2011, when they finished 13th, there was much disappointment when the season ended that the club had not fulfilled their potential and at least reached the race for the Grand Final.
They finished well clear of arch-rivals the Waratahs, however, and that feat alone has been enough to convince a record number of supporters to snap up membership packages for the 2012 campaign.
''We've had a strong response to memberships and we're still five months out from the season,” said chief executive Andrew Fagan.
“There is a feel good factor and an urge to put things right. We’re already looking forward to getting back out there.”
The result that cost the Brumbies their play-off berth was a defeat to the Reds, who went on to defy rugby tips online and make the knock-out stage of the season.
But the Brumbies have the opportunity to exact revenge at the earliest possible stage, with the two set to go head to head on the opening day of the 2012 Super Rugby season.
Coached by Jake White, and captained by former Waratahs man Ben Mowen, the Brumbies will be confident of getting their season off to the perfect start, and then making it two in a row when they face Mowen’s old club in week two.
It should be an explosive start to the 2013 season for the Canberra-based outfit, and many who tune in to watch live rugby online believe that next year could be there for the taking.
