General Info Edit
Gareth Anscombe is another young talent in New Zealand rugby.  He has normally played at fly-half, but in 2013 has been successfully posted at fullback with the Chiefs in the Super Rugby series.  His radar with the boot is second to none, good enough to replace Aaron Cruden as kicker, plus he has a good strategic eye and a powerful turn of pace.

In 2011, Anscombe was the highest points scorer at the IRB Junior World Championship.  In 2010 he made his debut for Auckland, and in 2012 he made a debut for the Blues.

His first season in Super rugby was a mixed bag.  After a massive solo effort against the Bulls in round 3 where he scored the teams entire 29 points and provided one of the few highlights for the side in this failure of a season, he then struggled to find any serious form, although nobody in the squad did that year.

Dispite his obvious talent, he was dropped from the Blues leading into the 2013 season.  The Chiefs took the opportunity to pick him up, and while he was originally destined to be a bench player, injury opened the door and he's wrapped both hands around the fullback spot ever since.
