Here are some players to buy if you are looking to go to the top of your conference. It is confusing with the June Internationals. Which player are you picking to be player of the round?
Super Rugby Round 16 is here and managers of www.testrugby.com
teams need to be wary of the disruptions caused by the June
International tests window including the British and Irish Lions Tour to
Australia. It is the rugby silly season!
Here are some players to buy for managers, remembering that there are
only four Australian teams playing in Super Rugby Round 17, but you do
get spare trades for next round! I am trying to where possible buy
players who will be playing on the first weekend of the June
Internationals.
This means buying some players from the Brumbies, Rebels and Waratahs
and getting two weeks out of them before you have to sell them. Your
ability to trade players may be restricted by a lack of trades this
week. There is often the temptation to sell and under-performing player
for a better performed player, but this can backfire when you run out
of trades. Sometimes it is simply better to have starting players on
your team roster, even if they aren't scoring many points. Wise
managers will sell their non Australian players at the lock of Round 16
before they lose value.
The problem is that it is difficult to know how many and which
Australian players will be rested from Super Rugby Round 17, meaning
that even if you do have Australian based players in your side, you may
still have to get rid of them as the Wallabies prepare to face the
British and Irish Lions.
Not all teams have been named yet.

Super Rugby Round 16 Players To Buy
1) James O'Connor (Rebels) - James O'Connor is due back from injury and will be at his cheapest in ages,
although it is hard to know if his Rebels team will be excited to see
him or not? The Rebels have won their last two games without O'Connor
and Kurtley Beale. You would think he will start in the Number 10
jersey, although it is hard to know if he will kick goals or if Jason
Woodward will retain the goal kicking duties. It will be interesting to see the O'Connor vs Cooper battle.
2) Scott Higginbotham (Rebels) - The inspirational Rebels captain is
the overall top points scoring loose forward and given his ability to
not only score tries and break tackles, Higginbotham can roll his
sleeves up and make tackles and win lineouts. He is an ideal www.testrugby.com player.
3) Israel Folau (Waratahs) - This guy is the top points scorer in www.testrugby.com and has scored eight tries this season. It will be interesting to see how he goes against the Crusaders.
4) Stephen Moore (Brumbies) - Stephen Moore is playing for his starting
Wallabies jersey with the British and Irish Lions tour around the
corner. The Hurricanes will be his next victims!
5) Ged Robinson (Rebels) - Ged Robinson has been one of the reasons
that the Rebels forward pack has been competitive this season. He is a
good all round hooker who has a knack of scoring tries. He has scored
four this season! Robinson won't be involved in the international test
series, so will play again next weekend unless he is injured.
6) Jason Woodward (Rebels) - If you want a bargain priced player for
two weeks then get hold of Jason Woodward. Since he has taken over the
goalkicking from James O'Connor he has been one of the best value for
money players in www.testrugby.com
. The only problem now is that O'Connor is back. It is hard to know
who will do the kicking. Woodward will play again next week assuming he
isn't injured, so he is a great buy.
7)
Christian
Lealiifano (Brumbies) - If you want a goalkicker from a team that should
win over the weekend then Lealiifano is the man. He should start in
midfield for the table topping Brumbies. The best thing about the
Brumbies is that they are one of only four teams playing next week.
If you have plenty of trades left
8) Lappies Labuschagne (Cheetahs) - Is a diamond in the rough with his
ability to make plenty of tackles, win lineout ball, scores tries and be
a great ball carrier. www.testrugby.com
is made for this type of player. He costs less than $700,000, is the
second top scoring loose forward with over 3000 points and will get
through plenty of work against the Bulls this weekend.
9) Charles Piutau (Blues) - Piutau is such a difficult player to
tackle. He is the second top scoring outside back behind Israel Folau
and looks set to leave a path of destruction behind him against the
Highlanders. Piutau costs under $1 million. The Blues back three run,
they don't kick!
10) Rene Ranger (Blues) - It is hard to find a good centre in Super
Rugby Round 16, but Rene Ranger will also provide a headache for the
Highlanders in Dunedin. The Blues will enjoy playing indoors.
11) Deon Fourie (Stormers) - I am still interested to see how Deon
Fourie goes at loose forward, even though he is usually a hooker. It is
hard to know the impact it will have on his www.testrugby.com points scoring.
12) Jean De Villiers (Stormers) - Surely the Stormers should beat the
Southern Kings at the weekend and captain De Villiers will be hoping to
stamp his class on the game.
Which player are you looking forward to seeing in Super Rugby Round 16?
I am interested to see how Baden Kerr goes for the Blues, but realise that he is only worth a punt if you are short of cash. He hasn't done much so far this season to suggest that he will be a points scoring machine. Piutau and Ranger on the other hand!
