The teams going to the finals...

Based on expert analysis of the remaining games in super rugby, the teams that will make it through to the finals will be as follows:


1. Reds (AUS CON)
2. Stormers (SA CON)
3. Blues (NZ CON)
4. Crusaders
5. Bulls
6. Sharks

There are 2 influential games in this calculation - the 1st is the R17 Bulls Vs Stormers match up. The stormers will have just returned from a long overseas trip where they will have lost some difficult games, whereas the Bulls will have taken confidence and momentum from home games against weak opposition - Bulls to win that game giving them a shot at the finals...

The last 2 finals spots will be decided on the very last game of the round robin Bulls V Sharks - the sharks will have already made the finals and the bulls will need to win to make the finals and overtake them on points differential. Bulls again with momentum and players actually starting to fire will win this game knocking the Highlanders and Waratahs out of contention for the final spot.

However, NZ home quarter finals will be the end of both those South African teams with the Crusaders beating the Bulls and the Blues beating Sharks.

There will be some talk of the Crusaders being the eventual winners but they will go down to the Reds in Brisbane while the Blues will struggle in SA.

If WIll Genia and Quade Cooper maintain fitness and form the final will be Reds V Stormers in Queensland and the Reds will take their first title.

Ha, good abuse from the gallery...good to see people are passionate, but I'm gambling with my head here. I'm actually a kiwi so to pick 3 SA sides in the finals is not easy for me, but I feel out of the 3 teams competing for that last place - the Bulls are choc full of champions and are playing for their dignity at the moment - that makes them a very dangerous proposition. The Highlanders (although having the best season out of all teams in the comp) do not have experience in closing out a tournament so I'm picking them to choke. The Tahs on the other hand do not have the tactics or coaching ability to win the big games so they are destined to always be losers.

I guess this expert doesn't rate the Waratahs very highly, as usual they look pretty handy at the start, then they lose their way.. it being a much longer comp make you want to ask the question? Will they flop or turn it around. Teams who get better near the end of the season have been.. the Bulls, Stormers, Chiefs, maybe the Sharks?

i mean seriously the bulls need to beat the sharks twice the stormers the cheetahs and the tahs...NOT gonna happen..they may beat the cheetahs but probably won't..

expert analysis my ass..the bulls will be lucky to win 1 of their remaining 5 games. I wouldn't be surprised if the cheetahs finish higher than the bulls. They aren't the team they were in the previous two seasons and ONE good HOME win over the WORST team doesn't make them contenders.. The have 4 games against teams still in the hunt for playoffs and one against the cheetahs who are playing well enough to beat anyone. The Tahs and highlanders both have 2 easy wins over weak teams..the highlanders also have a garaunteed 4 points for the bye and the tahs then have home advantage over the highlanders meaning ONE of the TWO teams that put the Bulls at risk WILL WIN an additional game..making that 3 from 5 wins potentially 4 for the highlanders including the bye..There will be no bulls in the playoffs and based on the upcoming games it will finish in this order...Reds Stormers Sharks Crusaders Blues (winner of Tahs/Highlanders game)...

I don't know why, but i think the bulls will get to the play-offs & if so
they will retain the title for the 4th time. They just know how to win
important games & for that reason they will stay the CHAMPS

Of course the other pivotal game is Reds V Crusaders - if they can win that one and maintain a home final then they will be fine. If they have to play away they will be in trouble.

The Reds then need to beat a combined team of 30 players made up of the Rebels and Lions in a true test of their skill. Hopefully, they 30 man squad can fill the giant gaps that have appeared in their defensive line the entire season.
