Round Four of The Rugby World Cup version of Fantasy Rugby management game <a href="http://www.testrugby.com">www.testrugby.com</a> has been completed and according to the statistics, Zac Guildford is the player of the final round of matches after bagging four tries against Canada. Not bad for an outside back who has been surplus to requirements earlier in the tournament. The opposition makes a massive difference with no All Blacks making the Team of Round Three, yet the Team of Round Four contains six New Zealanders. Wales who smashed the disappointing Fijians include three players. The halves are Felipe Contepomi and Berrick Barnes, while the only other player is Wame Lewaravu who was an unlikely hero for Fiji.
What can we learn from Round Four?
1) Some great players are out of the tournament including Dan Carter, Francois Steyn and Drew Mitchell.
2) Teams that are named can be hit by late withdrawals. I had Dan Carter stuck in my team after he was named to play initially.
3) Back players from teams who are likely to win well. Only one of the quarter finals has a clear cut favourite with the All Blacks likely to dominate Argentina. The other three matches could go either way and to conserve those 20 trades it is important to pick players from winning teams who will show in the semi finals. The only problem is knowing who is going to be selected for the All Blacks with the injuries, rotation and player depth posing a few problems.
