Scotty Donaldson previews the British and Irish Lions vs Wallabies 2nd test. Who are you picking to win?
The British and Irish Lions play the Qantas Australia Wallabies under
the roof at Etihad Stadium and it will be interesting to see how scarred
some of the Wallabies are one week after the disappointing loss in the
first test. I loved the first test!
It will be interesting to see who kicks goals for the Wallabies
following the disappointing performance last week, with Kurtley Beale
(his shocking final kick is pictured above), James O'Connor and
Christian Leali'ifano all potential options. I think Leali'ifano was
supposed to start kicking and assuming he doesn't get knocked out, he
should be fine.
Injuries have forced plenty of changes to be made for both teams heading
into the second test. Tommy Bowe, Geoff Parling, Dan Lydiate, Mako
Vunipola and Ben Youngs coming into the starting line up in a mixture of
forced and unforced changes.
The Wallabies backline depth is being tested with Kurtley Beale and Joe
Tomane coming into the starting side. The Wallabies don't have the
depth of their opponents and so it will be interesting to see if this
hurts them later in the game. Digby Ioane is in trouble with the law,
so won't be playing!
If the Wallabies can keep their players on the field playing in their
correct positions and kick their goals then I think they should beat the
British and Irish Lions. James O'Connor needs to stand up and be
counted! It would make for a great deciding third test match in the
series!
For www.testrugby.com managers
it is a juggling act trying to fit starting players into your team. I
have had to make sacrifices only being able to afford one starting
hooker, so I have put Mako Vunipola in my team. It is a strange series
because there are about five great point scoring outside backs listed in
www.testrugby.com but of
course, you can only pick two of them. There aren't so many halves
worth spending much on, so I have cut costs at half and lock.
Be careful when juggling and maybe do some calculations first before making the changes. Otherwise you may run out of trades!
My pick - Wallabies by 3 points.
