Burrow Ready for French Examination 6 views 0 Comments 0 Images

Having handed Wales an 80-12 hiding at the weekend, England fans placing a bet on sports could be forgiven for being a little complacent ahead of this weekend’s meeting with France but Rob Burrow is certainly not taking anything for granted before Saturday’s game.

Wales started last Saturday’s game positively but their lack of super league experience and international pedigree really began to show in the second half, as England ruthlessly exposed their inferior fitness levels.

Whilst Wales boasted only a handful of top-level players from a range of sides, France coach, Aurélien Cologni, has the luxury of being able to select mainly from the Catalans Dragons team that finished the Super League season strongly, and Burrow knows that the French will pose a different threat to Iestyn Harris’ Wales team.

"The French are improving every year," said Burrow. "Super League is really benefiting them, certainly in the pack, where they've some really big, physical and dominant people.”

Burrow, who has been re-invented over the last couple of seasons at the Rhinos, has appeared mainly in the dummy half role in recent times but, with loose forward, Sean O’Loughlin out injured against France, he may be asked to move to half back in the reshuffle.

For his part, Burrow does not seem too concerned about where he is asked to play, and the 30-year old continues to show the enthusiasm for the game that has characterised his whole career in the game.

"If I can play any role in this international side, then I'm happy with that. Whether I start or come off bench, I'll do my best for the country," Burrow said.

England meet France at Craven Park on Saturday and look set to welcome the likes of Sam Tomkins back into their side.

Whilst the French will certainly offer more than Wales did last weekend it would be a big shock to see any live scores results other than a heavy England victory as the team continue to build towards next year’s world cup.
