New Sales Sharks boss John Mitchell has vowed to take all of the difficult decisions needed to keep his side in the Premiership after a woeful start to the campaign.
The Sharks currently sit bottom of the Aviva Premiership after just one win in their opening 10 games and Mitchell, who took over the reins from Steve Diamond, knows that a change in personnel is the only way that Sale can get out of their current predicament.
"If we pussyfoot around we might get the same old, so there's got to be change," Mitchell said to betting news reporters. “We've been after delivery and some individuals haven't stepped up and delivered” he added.
Since taking over at Sale, former All Blacks coach, Mitchell has been keen to stress that it isn’t just the skill levels of his players that need to improve, but also their attitudes and he hopes that by making changes to his starting XV he can bring about the necessary improvement.
"It's a team game and we want the team to play as a team so it's up to us to find a mix that will play as a team and perform” Mitchell said. “We're also dealing with some individuals attitudinally at the moment because the performances haven't been to the level required. I just think we're far too loose as an environment professionally and we need to tighten up in order to become collective.
It remains to be seen whether or not Mitchell can turn Sale’s season around but, with his tough talk, he is certainly showing that he is up for the fight. If the Sharks can take out on to the field the ruthlessness that Mitchell is showing off it then those looking for a in-play bet offer may just back them to turn their form around. If, however, they continue in their current vein then relegation looks inevitable.
