Scott Donaldson looks at the best ways to manage your team for the Rugby World Cup 2011 Round Two.
Rugby World Cup 2011 starts shortly for www.testrugby.com managers it means making changes to their teams. This tournament is difficult because of the staggered draw created by an odd number of teams in each pool, injuries and player rotations in different teams also make a difference so check firstly that the player's team is playing in Round Two action and that the player has been named.
It is important to check the Round Three draw to see which players will be selected by their team two games in a row and that is why it is important to select New Zealand All Blacks in your team for the next two rounds. Backs like Richard Kahui and Ma'a Nonu scored plenty of points against Tonga, have been named to face Japan and should start in their next match against France. I have personally also gone for Keven Mealamu and Victor Vito too. Daniel Carter was a great option until he got injured. The All Blacks backs tend to score plenty of tries, making them ideal selections.
The style of teams and their opponents should also dictate your selections. It seems that anyone playing Namibia tends to do well, but unfortunately they don't have any matches in Round Two. Wales had some good forward performances against South Africa (including the bargain priced Toby Faletau), while it also seems that players from the other top teams like England and South Africa with their forward style don't tend to score many testrugby points. It will be interesting to see how the Springboks go against Fiji, while a common problem is waiting for teams to be named and there could be a few England players who might do well against Georgia but the team hasn't been named yet.
Will Fiji's bargain priced players like Leone Nakarawa, Waisea Luveniyal Vereniki Goneva and Gabiriele Lovobalavu did well against Namibia, but can the exciting Fijians still be successful against South Africa?
I have selected Rory Best as my tight forward because Jerry Flannery has gone home injured, so Best will score heavily. I have saved money with my locks with some cheapies. I have also selected plenty of All Blacks. Who are you picking this week? Toby Faletau?
Here is a short guide on how to select your team for Round Two.
1) Check who made the Team of the Round or were the Best Players in each position. Look for any bargains.
2) Check which ones of them are named to play in the next round of games and who is injured.
3) Check to see which teams are playing and try to get try scorers in teams who are playing easy opponents.
4) Choose as many goal kickers as possible.
5) Try not to use up too many trades.
Good luck!
