Scotty Donaldson looks at some must buy players for Round 2 Super Rugby 2012.
Here are players who I think should do well this week. There are plenty of bargain priced goalkickers so you obviously can't pick all of these halves. It all depends on how much money and trades you have.
Juandre Kruger (Bulls) - (Must buy) - The heir apparent to Victor Matfield, Kruger is remarkably agile for such a big man and also dominates lineouts and restarts. He is a bargain priced player (around $600,000) and scored a whopping 360 points last week. You must also remember that traditionally locks don't score many www.testrugby.com points.
Joe Pietersen (Stormers) - There aren't many outside backs who are good on attack and kick goals. Joe Pietersen is a must buy with his reliable points. He is good value at around $1 million and got 365 points last week.
Michael Harris (Reds) - (Must buy) - Harris will be the starting goalkicker against the lowly Force for the defending champion Reds team and playing at home. He also has an excellent running game and is less than $700,000. Last week 345 points.
Johan Goosen (Cheetahs) - Will start and probably be involved in a shootout with Morne Steyn despite only being worth about half of what Steyn is. He will be playing at home and can kick goals from inside his own half. Last week 420 points.
Siya Kolisi (Stormers) - (Bargain if you want the risk) - Will start in the Number Six jersey vacated by Schalk Burger after an impressive match off the bench against the Hurricanes. He may not have the same impact against the Sharks, but is a bargain at around $500,000. Last week 230 points.
Radike Samo (Reds) - (Based on a hunch!) - Listed as a lock, Radike Samo will start at Number Eight for the Reds who should beat the Force easily. He is relatively pricey, but could produce points not usually achieved by players from the locking position. Last week 50 points.
Beauden Barrett (Hurricanes) - Barrett has an excellent running and kicking game reminisent of Stephen Larkham, but he actually kicks goals! Barrett reads the game well for a 20 year old in scoring a whopping 475 points last week and is now worth only $715,000.
Who else should managers purchase?
